Abstrak

Tulisan ini mengajukan gagasan kerangka desain Generative Folding sebagai salah satu metode untuk membangun koneksi berkesinambungan antara elemen arsitektur dan peristiwa. Kerangka ini memiliki potensi untuk memunculkan kompleksitas arsitektur yang ada pada konteks dan sekaligus menyambungkan elemen-elemen tersebut melalui perangkat digital. Penelitian ini didasari oleh gagasan Fold oleh Deleuze (1993) dan logika object-event oleh Eisenman (1993). Folding dan alterasi pada elemen arsitektur memproduksi beragam koneksi dan kesinambungan antara tipe ‘waktu’ yang berbeda. Pengembangan kerangka desain ini dilakukan melalui kajian literatur yang mengidentifikasi bagaimana folding menghasilkan keterhubungan antara objek-peristiwa serta melalui analisis koneksi berkesinambungan pada karya arsitektur Peter Eisenman. Tulisan ini juga memaparkan teknis umum mengenai desain generatif dan bagaimana pendekatan tersebut dapat mengembangkan eksplorasi berbagai fold. Temuan dari penelusuran ini menampilkan potensi aplikasi lanjut Fold dari Deleuze melalui kerangka desain generatif yang memungkinkan munculnya koneksi berkesinambungan yang baru. Kerangka ini dapat menjadi basis untuk pengembangan desain lebih lanjut untuk memproduksi bentuk arsitektural yang didasari oleh koneksi berkesinambungan.

    Paramita Atmodiwirjo is a professor of architecture at Universitas Indonesia. She obtained her PhD in Architecture and Master of Architectural Studies from the University of Sheffield, and MA in Education (Teaching and Learning) from the University of Bath. Her research interests are in the relationship between architecture, interior and the users’ behaviour, and the development of creative learning methods for architectural education. She has been awarded the FuturArc Green Leadership Award 2019, Holcim Awards Asia Pacific 2011, Teaching Excellence Award 2014, and IAI Jakarta Award 2012. She is the chief editor of Interiority journal, editorial board member of International Journal of Technology, co-curator of Tanahku Indonesia exhibition 2017, and the secretary for the International Association For Lifewide Learning (IAFLL).
