Abstrak

Studi ini mengeksplorasi proses pelapukan batu kapur sebagai dasar metode perancangan arsitektur sirkular. Proses alami pelapukan batu kapur memungkinkan netralisasi air hujan asam sehingga meningkatkan  kualitas lingkungan. Dengan memahami pelapukan sebagai kejadian yang bermanfaat dan bukan merugikan, tulisan ini menganalisis penerapan pelapukan material batu kapur untuk desain arsitektur. Studi ini mengidentifikasi tiga siklus berbeda dalam pelapukan batu kapur, seperti siklus karbon, siklus air dan siklus pertumbuhan dan dekomposisi tanaman. Berdasarkan siklus tersebut, susunan permukaan, sudut, kedalaman alami batu kapur  menentukan aliran elemen kontinu dan tidak kontinu sehingga membentuk formasi pola permukaan. Alterasi dari aliran air berpotensi untuk mengakselerasi atau memperlambat fase siklus yang menimbulkan dampak lingkungan yang berbeda. Studi ini mengembangkan program arsitektural yang menetralkan air untuk reboisasi dan rekreasi melalui pelapukan batu kapur. Perancangan ini bertujuan untuk menjaga kelestarian batu kapur dan menambahkan budidaya alga coccolithophore ke dalam ekosistem natural batu kapur. Desain ini menciptakan sistem sirkular dari pelapukan batu kapur yang berfungsi sebagai penyerap karbon dalam lingkungan, sehingga meregenerasi lanskap secara keseluruhan.
