Implikasi spasial kegiatan bertinggal rumah tangga extended berlandaskan nilai sosio-kultural kekerabatan di Balikpapan, Indonesia

Abstrak

Rumah tangga, yaitu satuan penghunian unit rumah, telah menjadi fokus pada kajian mengenai rumah. Namun, penelitian terdahulu cenderung dominan mengandalkan perspektif demografi dan ekonomi yang melihat rumah dan rumah tangga secara universal serta melalui skema pemaksimalan nilai ekonomi. Padahal, rumah tangga lekat dengan persoalan keluarga serta kekerabatan, dan ketiganya hadir secara beragam seiring dengan keragaman masyarakat yang menganut nilai sosio-kultural tertentu. Terutama di Asia, termasuk Indonesia, keluarga dan rumah tangga extended dijunjung sebagai suatu ideal. Penelitian ini bertujuan memahami signifikansi nilai sosio-kultural pada implikasi spasial dari kegiatan bertinggal rumah tangga extended. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif, khususnya etnografi, dengan melibatkan informan tertuju dan kegiatan wawancara serta observasi. Hasil dan pembahasan menunjukkan bahwa nilai sosio-kultural yang digenggam para anggota rumah tangga ini adalah pemaknaan kekerabatan sebagai ikatan berharga, keinginan untuk saling berbagi dan bekerja sama, serta penerimaan tradisi dan penjagaan keberlanjutannya ke masa depan. Hasil dan pembahasan juga menunjukkan bahwa kecuali dalam hal pembedaan alokasi, penggunaan, dan akses ruangan sebab adanya perbedaan jenis kelamin, implikasi spasial dari kegiatan bertinggal extended family ini identik dengan kegiatan bertinggal nuclear family. Anggota tambahan bisa dan diperkenankan untuk menggunakan berbagai ruangan di hunian tersebut, serta terlibat interaksi dan menggunakannya secara bergantian dan/atau bersamaan dengan para anggota penerima.
